Salvador Montañez Mayor is born in Las Palmas of Gran Canaria on September 10, 1920, in his childhood, he played football in Gran Canaria´s teams. Together with his brother who played of goalkeeper.

In 1936 he joins the army and  was destined to the peninsula and coincides with the Spanish War. He combats in several battles, among them The Battle of Ebro.
At the end of the civil war he is decorated because of his merits of war. Then he returns to house, and  devotes himself to his business.

On June 28, 1948 he marries Carmen Domínguez Henriquez, they have two children, Fátima and Alejandro.

In February, 1954 he moves from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Arrecife, On April 5 of the same year inaugurates the first optics in Lanzarote, Optica Moncar.
Salvador always was fan of the football, being an associate of the Unión Deportiva Las Palmas, though he stopped practising it. Already here in Lanzarote he contributed that the football was not declining in the difficult moments of 65

After years in sports directives he decides to leave it and to devote exclusively to his family and to his optics, Optica Moncar.
